By incorporating digital-type switching in the amplification circuit, the D-class Amplifier delivers efficient amplification with low power consumption and minimal heat radiance while overcoming issues of frequency characteristics, crossover distortion and radiation noise that previously prevented adoption of this technology. By drastic fortification of the power supply, Kenwood has raised the performance of the low-impedance speaker to new heights. Adoption of a BUS BAR in the power primary pattern, dual-parallel MOSFET final-stage transistors and 4 x 20A rectifier diodes (+/- independent power supply) ensure that this new amplifier circuitry can drive any high-power speaker systems, even a series-connected multi-speaker subwoofer system. With 4-POINT BASS BOOST, new BMS (Bass Management System) with convenient control from the head unit adds +18db to the previous 3-point setting of FLAT, +6 dB and +12 dB. Center range frequency can also be decreased by about 30% from the head unit thanks to the improved BASS BOOST frequency control. The acoustic properties of vehicle compartment tend to cause oscillation due to resonance or unclearness of sound due to standing waves at certain frequencies. The band reject filter can solve the problems of resonance or unclear sound with minimum influence on the sound quality because it eliminates only the frequencies causing resonance or standing waves.
